Dr. Howie Wong

Dr. Howie graduated from the University of Melbourne in 2011.

He began his career working in the New Territories, followed by two years at the SPCA. During this time, he obtained a post-graduate certificate and a Masters degree in Veterinary Studies.

To further develop his clinic skills, he then undertook a one-year internship in small animal surgery and medicine at Veterinary Specialty Hospital, a specialist veterinary referral hospital in Hong Kong, working under guidance and mentorship from veterinary specialists.

Following this, he worked as the Senior Veterinary Surgeon at the SPCA where he handled complicated surgical, medical and referral cases, and was on call for night-time emergency surgeries. During this time, Dr. Howie became a RCVS recognised Advanced Practitioner in Small Animal Practice.

In 2019, he returned to VSH and fulfilled the role of emergency veterinarian & hospitalist, taking care of animals in critical conditions.

In 2021, Dr. Howie founded Kai Tak Veterinary Hospital, providing high quality care and treatment, and maintaining quality of life, for animals in Hong Kong. In the same year, he was accepted, by examination, into the Australian and New Zealand College of Veterinary Scientists in the chapter of Small Animal Surgery, and obtained a General Practitioner Certificate in Small Animal Surgery by the International School of Veterinary Postgraduate Studies.

While Dr. Howie enjoys and is experienced in all aspects of veterinary science, his particular areas of clinical interest are canine and feline surgery, diagnostic imaging, and emergency medicine. As an executive committee member of the Hong Kong Veterinary Association, he is also involved in organising continuing education events for veterinarians in Hong Kong. He also regularly volunteers and works with local and overseas animal welfare organisations, hoping to reduce stray populations and improve the welfare of animals.
